Dave’s Hikes: The Goat Mountain Trail, Bass Lake, CA., December 28, 2013

Fresno Dome through a Manzanita

The Goat Mountain Trail starts in the back of Forks Campground on Rd.222 in Bass Lake, California, near Oakhurst and climbs steadily to the top of Goat Mountain, a lushly-forested ridge overlooking the west shore of the lake.
What gives with all this?
I’m hiking in the deep of winter on the occasion of improving my fitness because on January 13th, 2014, I’m starting my job as a seasonal seafood processor in Dutch Harbor, Alaska, with Westward Seafood, Inc. I will need every footstep I take to condition me for 18 hour shifts in the isolated outpost, during which time I will be cut off from television and the internet while still not having left the United States. So wish me luck and enjoy these photos from these hikes I took to get myself in shape.
